What is the Difference Between Metal Backed Crowns and Zirconium Backed Crowns?

The amount of teeth to be cut for both materials is almost the same. The substructure of metal-supported crowns is made of gray metal and its resistance is higher than zirconium. It can make a gray reflection in patients with aesthetically thin gingival structure.

The substructure of zirconium supported crowns is made of a white material called zirconium. Therefore, it does not create a gray reflection under the gingiva. The superstructure of both materials is covered with porcelain.
