Inlay - Onlay Fill

Inlays and onlays are restorations applied to decayed or broken back teeth that cannot be filled with a normal filling. They are also known as indirect fillings because they are prepared in a laboratory environment by measuring the tooth.

They are produced from a special composite filling material or porcelain. The biggest advantage is that it has perfect contact with the adjacent teeth, which ensures that food residues do not enter between the teeth and that the gum health is preserved in the long term, except for the patient to use dental floss comfortably in the long term. Another advantage is that it is less likely to encounter any problems such as falling or breaking.

Inlay - Onlay Fill

Inlays and onlays are a solution between fillings and crowns. With Inlay and Onlay treatment, the gums are also protected and the color match between the teeth is better.
The bruises or fractures in the patient's teeth are cleaned and after smooth surfaces are obtained, a measurement of the inside of the mouth with three-dimensional cameras is taken using digital dentistry techniques and transferred to the computer environment. Then, in order to fill the cavity in the patient's mouth in the laboratory or computer environment, the porcelain material is shaped by the computer and the porcelain fillings prepared to fill the deficiency on the surface of the tooth are adhered to the patient's tooth.
Porcelain inlays and onlays are more aesthetic than other fillings, and in such applications, the end of the restoration with the tooth is felt at a minimum. Inlays and onlays are recommended for patients who want very high quality in terms of aesthetics and comfort. Inlays and onlays are preferred in cases where we do not want to lose too much material in the tooth (instead of crown coating).
The lifespan of the inlays and precautions depends on the material used in the filling, the oral hygiene of the patient, the skill of the practicing physician, and the severity of the chewing forces on the tooth.
Its biggest advantage is its perfect contact with the adjacent teeth, which ensures that food residues do not enter between the teeth and that the gum health is preserved in the long term, apart from using dental floss comfortably in the long term. Another advantage is that there is less chance of encountering any problems such as falling or breaking, and we also achieve very aesthetic results.
Although inlays and onlays do not have great risks, if the saliva cannot be adequately isolated during the application by the physician, the restoration will not adhere well to the tooth and may fall in the future. These restorations may break in the face of great forces, as with other fillings.
After cleaning a large caries in the tooth or after root canal treatment, the remaining solid tooth tissue may not always be enough to make a simple filling. In such a case, inlay/onlay restorations protect this remaining tissue and provide to complete the missing parts of the tooth. Thus, the tooth becomes more durable and functional. Since they are prepared on the model in the laboratory environment, they are much more compatible with neighboring teeth and tissues, and problems such as food accumulation between adjacent teeth are minimized.
The maintenance of inlays and onlays only requires regular oral care, which includes brushing, flossing and regular dental visits.
