ANCIENT CITY OF TRIPOLIS

Established by Seleucids in mid 3rd century AD, the ancient city of Tripolis was home to many churches from its first day until it was destroyed. Tripolis, the most famous episcopate center of Christianity, was also placed in the list of Lydian Bishops prepared by the Lydian Assembly. Many clergy responsible for spreading Christianity were raised in the ancient city of Tripolis, where religious education was offered in various fields. Thus, Tripolis was an important center where the world-famous missionaries and bishops of the Lydian region were raised.
